Mari Borden, Political Director
Mari joined the DLCC in 2013. Starting her career as Campaign Manager for a local legislative candidate in her home town Portland, Oregon, she has since helped win passage of critical consumer protection bills as Coalition Coordinator for Economic Fairness Oregon, overseen big wins in Oregon’s House of Representatives as Campaign Services Director for Future PAC, served as Co-Chair of the Oregon Women’s Campaign School and gained experience working on the Hill for Congressman DeFazio (D-OR).
Kevin Boyd, Political Director
Before joining the DLCC in 2011, Kevin spent five cycles with the Iowa House Democrats. Working for Speaker Patrick Murphy, he was the Campaign Director for two cycles and the Deputy Campaign Director for two cycles. He previously had been a campaign manager for two Iowa House races. He started his career helping on municipal races in his hometown, Iowa City. He is a proud Hawkeye and a graduate of the University of Iowa.
Alex Chapman, Finance Associate
Alex joined the DLCC as a Political Assistant in 2013. Prior to that she worked as an intern with the DLCC where she assisted the departments with several research and communications projects. Alex worked in the private sector after graduating from the University of South Carolina with a B.A. in Political Science. She moved to Washington D.C. from South Carolina and is a proud Charlestonian.
Carolyn Fiddler, National Communications Director
Carolyn Fiddler returned to the DLCC in 2015 after serving as Political Communications Director for The Atlas Project, following a tenure as Strategic Communications Specialist with AFT. Prior to her previous stint as the DLCC’s Communications Director, she worked as Director of External Affairs at Media Matters for America. Carolyn graduated magna cum laude from the University of Arkansas with a BA in international relations and political science, and she received her JD from the College of William & Mary. Prior to law school, she worked for the Democratic Party of Virginia, where she served as Deputy Finance Director and later as Communications Director. During law school, she interned with Virginia Delegate Jim Scott and drew political cartoons for the school paper. Carolyn is a native of Warsaw, Virginia.
David Griggs, National Political Director
Dave joined the DLCC in 2010 and hails from Minneapolis, MN. He most recently managed Sen. Tom Bakk's campaign for Governor and has spent several cycles working for the Minnesota DFL's Coordinated Campaign, getting his start in 2002 as a Field Organizer for Sen. Paul Wellstone's reelection bid. Dave is a graduate of New York University and received a J.D. in 2007 from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis.
Jody Murphy, Political Director
A veteran of state legislative campaigns, Jody Murphy has worked with legislative caucuses for the past 8 years. Immediately prior to joining the DLCC in 2013, he served as Executive Director for the Virginia House Democratic Caucus during the 2013 cycle. He has also served as Executive Director of the Missouri House Democratic Caucus and the Oklahoma State Senate Caucus. A proud native of Troup, Texas, Jody played baseball for and graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University.
Irene Shin, State Fundraising Manager
Irene has worked in her home state of California on a number of local, congressional, and statewide political campaigns. During the 2014 cycle, she served as Finance Director for a congressional campaign in Northern Virginia and on a Los Angeles-based Senate campaign. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside.
Abigail Strayer, Finance Director
Abi joined the DLCC Finance Team in 2012. She spent the last four years working on the finance teams of various democratic campaigns across the country, including races in Hawaii, Washington and nearby Northern Virginia. She was selected as a member of the 2008 EMILY’s list Campaign Corps class where she worked on the Missouri Secretary of State’s race. Abi received her B.A. from the College of Charleston in 2008 and is a native of Columbus, OH.
Nathan Thomas, Digital Director
Prior to joining the DLCC in 2009, Nathan worked on the writing staff of the Mack Crounse Group. He is a veteran of the 2008 Iowa Caucuses and later joined the field staff of Louisiana Democrat Don Cazayoux’s successful special election campaign for Congress. Before that, Nathan got his start as an intern for the 2006 congressional campaigns of Nick Lampson and Dan Maffei. Nathan is a native of New Orleans and a graduate of Syracuse University in New York.
Shelbi Warner, Operations Manager
Shelbi joined the DLCC after spending the 2014 election cycle on her second stint with Gumbinner & Davies as a Senior Political Associate managing direct mail plans nationwide for labor unions, independent expenditures, and candidates. Prior to returning to G&D, Shelbi served on the operations and marketing team for Lake Research Partners. Previously, she spent several years in her home state of Florida as a fundraiser and strategist with campaigns and associations. Shelbi attended the University of Florida for undergrad and Florida State University for graduate studies.
Heather Williams, Chief Operating Officer
Heather returned to the DLCC in 2015 after serving as Vice President at Stateside Associates. Heather first started at the DLCC as a member of the Political Department, serving as Director of Financial Services, supporting both legislators and caucuses with their fundraising operations. From there, Heather transitioned into the Finance Department where she ultimately rose to the role of National Finance Director. Prior to joining DLCC in 2005, she worked on campaigns in Iowa, including working for DLCC Chair Senator Mike Gronstal as finance director of the Iowa Senate Democrats. Heather graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
Graham Wilson, National Field Director
Graham joined the DLCC in 2014; prior to joining the DLCC he worked in different states for different campaigns across the country. One of the first field hires for the Obama Campaign in 2007, he continued working in the Obama organization until 2011. He was formerly the Grassroots Victory Program Director at the DLCC. A native of Minneapolis Minnesota, his political career began in his home state in 2006 when he worked for the Minnesota DFL Coordinated Campaign.
