Michael Sargeant, Executive Director
Michael has been at the DLCC since 2001. He previously served as the national political director from 2003 to 2007. Before joining the DLCC, Michael was the director of the Tennessee House Caucus. He has also managed races in New Jersey, California, Michigan, and Missouri. He holds a degree from St. John’s University and is a New Jersey native.
Mari Borden, Grassroots Victory Program Director
Mari joined the DLCC in 2013. Starting her career as Campaign Manager for a local legislative candidate in her home town Portland, Oregon, she has since helped win passage of critical consumer protection bills as Coalition Coordinator for Economic Fairness Oregon, overseen big wins in Oregon’s House of Representatives as Campaign Services Director for Future PAC, served as Co-Chair of the Oregon Women’s Campaign School, gained experience working on the Hill for Congressman DeFazio (D-OR) and helped launch an integrated new media firm specializing in advertisement technology and online consulting. An accomplished triathlete and collector of vintage postcards, Mari spends her free time dancing and watching sports.
Kevin Boyd, Political Director
Before joining the DLCC in 2011, Kevin spent five cycles with the Iowa House Democrats. Working for Speaker Patrick Murphy, he was the Campaign Director for two cycles and the Deputy Campaign Director for two cycles. He previously had been a campaign manager for two Iowa House races. He started his career helping on municipal races in his hometown, Iowa City. He is a proud Hawkeye and a graduate of the University of Iowa.
Jessica Brown, Operations Assistant
Jessica joined the DLCC in 2012, shortly after receiving her B.A. from the University of Connecticut where she double majored in history and political science. Prior to that, she worked on the Hill for Representative Jim Himes (CT-4). For three summers, Jessica carried out volunteer work for Lew Simon, the district leader of the 23rd Assembly District, Part B in Queens, New York. She is a native of Connecticut and proud to be a Husky.
Alex Chapman, Political Assistant
Alex joined the DLCC as a Political Assistant in 2013. Prior to that she worked as an intern with the DLCC where she assisted the departments with several research and communications projects. Alex worked in the private sector after graduating from the University of South Carolina with a B.A. in Political Science. She moved to Washington D.C. from South Carolina and is a proud Charlestonian.
Kurt Fritts, National Political Director
Kurt joined the DLCC in 2011 and was named the National Political Director in 2013. Although he loves DC, he hails from the other Washington, the 2014 home of the Lombardi Trophy. During 14 years in state politics, Kurt: managed two winning legislative campaigns, drew strong Democratic maps in the 2001 redistricting, led Washington Senate Democrats to a majority in 2004, and helped grow Washington Conservation Voters into a powerful environmental voice. Kurt also served Governor Chris Gregoire for a year, and immediately prior to joining the DLCC, Kurt worked in South Sudan to help advance civic and voter education.
Elizabeth Gramling, Chief Operating Officer
Lizz joined the DLCC in 2007 after spending two years on the operations team for John Kerry's Senate re-election campaign and leadership PAC. During the 2004 campaign cycle she worked in the voter contact and targeting department at the Democratic National Committee. A proud New Jersey native, Lizz hails from Burlington, NJ, where she worked in the non-profit sector before moving to Washington, DC.
David Griggs, National Field Director
Dave joined the DLCC in 2010 and hails from Minneapolis, MN. He most recently managed Sen. Tom Bakk's campaign for Governor and has spent several cycles working for the Minnesota DFL's Coordinated Campaign, getting his start in 2002 as a Field Organizer for Sen. Paul Wellstone's reelection bid. Dave is a graduate of New York University and received a J.D. in 2007 from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis.
Megan Hannigan, Finance Director
Megan joined the finance team in 2009, shortly after receiving her B.A. from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She previously served as the DLCC's Finance Associate as well as Deputy Finance Director. Originally from just across the Potomac in Virginia, Megan has also worked on the Hill in the office of US Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio).
Mike Luce, Political Director
Mike joined in the DLCC in 2013 after serving as the Executive Director for the Nevada Senate Democratic Caucus for nearly two years where Democrats successfully held the majority in the 2012 election. Before his work in Nevada, he worked for the Pennsylvania House Caucus, and his campaign experience ranges from gubernatorial to judicial campaigns as well as a stint for a Democratic mail firm. Mike is a native of Missouri, a proud Cardinals fan and a graduate of Temple University.
Adam Phillips, Financial Services Director
Prior to joining the DLCC in 2011, Adam spent seven years working in Iowa politics, most recently as the Finance Director and Deputy Campaign Director for the Iowa House Democrats. He graduated with degrees in Finance and Political Science from the University of Northern Iowa. Adam is a native of Lisbon, Iowa.
Abigail Strayer, Finance Associate
Abi joined the DLCC Finance Team in 2012. She spent the last four years working on the finance teams of various democratic campaigns across the country, including races in Hawaii, Washington and nearby Northern Virginia. She was selected as a member of the 2008 EMILY’s list Campaign Corps class where she worked on the Missouri Secretary of State’s race. Abi received her B.A. from the College of Charleston in 2008 and is a native of Columbus, OH.
Nathan Thomas, Digital Director
Prior to joining the DLCC in 2009, Nathan worked on the writing staff of the Mack Crounse Group. He is a veteran of the 2008 Iowa Caucuses and later joined the field staff of Louisiana Democrat Don Cazayoux’s successful special election campaign for Congress. Before that, Nathan got his start as an intern for the 2006 congressional campaigns of Nick Lampson and Dan Maffei. Nathan is a native of New Orleans and a graduate of Syracuse University in New York.
Graham Wilson, Deputy National Field Director
Graham joined the DLCC in 2014; prior to joining the DLCC he worked in different states for different campaigns across the country. One of the first field hires for the Obama Campaign in 2007, he continued working in the Obama organization until 2011. He was formerly the Grassroots Victory Program Director at the DLCC. A native of Minneapolis Minnesota, his political career began in his home state in 2006 when he worked for the Minnesota DFL Coordinated Campaign.
