About Rodney

Senator Rodney Pol was born and raised in Northwest Indiana and worked hard in residential construction jobs to support himself through college. As a city attorney and former public defender, he has witnessed the shortcomings of the criminal legal system firsthand. In 2021, Rodney became the first Latino senator in the Indiana legislature as well as the youngest. Since then, he has worked to support students and defend labor rights. 

  • Fights for better worker pay, conditions, and benefits 
  • Working to direct more resources to Indiana public schools and teachers.
  • Opposes legislation that targets and alienates transgender students
