
Our wins this year build on our success last cycle, when we won full legislative control in Virginia by defending the Democratic majority in the state Senate and flipping the House of Delegates blue. This year, the stakes were high as we geared up for the first major electoral test of the Trump 2.0 era. Every seat in the state House was up for reelection, and the DLCC worked with leaders and partners on the ground to build one of the strongest programs in the country. On election night, this resulted in flipping 13 seats blue and Virginia’s largest Democratic majority in nearly 40 years.
In just a single decade, Virginia House Democrats went from a near superminority to a near supermajority thanks to strategic investments made by the DLCC cycle-over-cycle.
The DLCC was the first national organization to invest in Virginia this election, spending over $2 million to build the early infrastructure needed to hold and expand our single-seat House majority, and we played a key role in guiding the districts, strategy, and investments that led Democrats to a monumental victory in one of the nation’s most important battleground states.
