WASHINGTON — The Nevada Assembly just broke for Democrats, keeping full control of Nevada’s legislature in Democratic hands. Republicans named the Nevada Assembly as one of its flip targets this cycle and inundated the state with nearly $9.2 million in spending. The DLCC identified Nevada as a target early last year and worked tirelessly with our state partners to defend this crucial legislature and continue to protect abortion access, affordable health care, and accessible public education for every Nevadan.

“Nevadans saw right through the GOP’s lies and rejected their election denialism and attacks on abortion rights,” said DLCC President Jessica Post. “Nevada Republicans had everything in their favor during a midterm cycle that significantly benefits the GOP. Despite these headwinds, millions of dollars in MAGA money, and the RSLC designating the Battle Born State as a flip target, Nevadans all across the state have rejected the GOP and their out-of-step extremist beliefs on elections, the economy, and abortion. Democrats will build on this victory and continue to help create a safer, more affordable future for Nevada.”

Nevada was a crucial target in the DLCC’s Path to The Majority strategy to protect Democratic power and make a play for vulnerable GOP majorities. The DLCC invested nearly $2 million in Nevada this cycle, helping state partners lay the groundwork for strong campaigns across the state. The DLCC’s IE arm spent heavily to protect the Nevada majority in the Assembly and Senate, including on mail and digital ads. Nevada Republicans ran on a platform of election lies and extremism instead of focusing on the issues that matter to the Battle Born State.

The DLCC is the official Democratic Party committee dedicated to winning America’s state legislatures. This cycle, the committee raised $50 million to elect state Democrats across the country. State legislatures are the building blocks of our democracy and pass the policies that have the biggest impact on Americans’ day-to-day lives.
