WASHINGTON — The Washington House and Senate just broke for Democrats, keeping control of Washington’s full legislature in Democratic hands for another two years. Republicans named Washington as one of its targets this cycle, dumping nearly $13 million in spending into the state. Washington Democrats never took anything for granted and ran strong campaigns across the state. Washington voters just sent Republicans a strong message: they’re not interested in the GOP agenda of banning abortion and election denial.
“Republicans were bullish on the prospect of taking over the Washington legislature, but voters have soundly rejected them,” said DLCC President Jessica Post. “To put it plainly, the GOP was wasting their time in Washington. Washingtonians weren’t swayed by MAGA GOP lies and scare tactics, trusting Democrats yet again to deliver for Washington families.”
The DLCC is the official Democratic Party committee dedicated to winning America’s state legislatures. This cycle, the committee raised $50 million to elect state Democrats across the country. State legislatures are the building blocks of our democracy and pass the policies that have the biggest impact on Americans’ day-to-day lives.
