WASHINGTON — Pennsylvania Democrats just won control of the House for the first time in over a decade. Despite Republicans’ structural advantages, Democrats have triumphed. The DLCC has been investing and working alongside state partners to build Democratic power in Pennsylvania for years. The RSLC named Pennsylvania a top defend target and Republicans spent over $12 million trying to hold the Pennsylvania legislature. This momentous victory marks a new era for fundamental freedoms and protecting democracy in the commonwealth and another embarrassing loss for the Republican Party.
Democrats are positioned to stop extreme Republican bills and will work closely with Governor-elect Josh Shapiro to implement Democratic priorities to move Pennsylvania forward.

Pennsylvania was a part of the DLCC’s Path to The Majority strategy to protect Democratic power and make a play for vulnerable GOP majorities. We succeeded in Pennsylvania. Since 2016, the DLCC has dedicated resources to growing Democratic power in the statehouse in Pennsylvania, helping state partners lay the groundwork for strong campaigns across the state. This is the fourth chamber Democrats have flipped while preventing the GOP from taking a single majority, a stunning and unprecedented midterm election result.
The DLCC is the official Democratic Party committee dedicated to winning America’s state legislatures. This cycle, the committee raised $50 million to elect state Democrats across the country. State legislatures are the building blocks of our democracy and pass the policies that have the biggest impact on Americans’ day-to-day lives.
