WASHINGTON — DLCC Spotlight Candidate Marc Plamondon won a crucial special election in Hillsborough 3 today – closing the gap in the House and bringing Democrats within three seats of a majority. These razor-thin margins and additional expected special elections mean that the chamber will continue to be competitive throughout the year. After picking up nearly a dozen seats in the last election, the DLCC will continue to work to flip this chamber. Democrats’ momentum is growing at the state legislative level of the ballot, and these special elections are proving that voters are tired of Republican extremism.
“The New Hampshire House is well within reach this cycle and this victory is more evidence that Democrats have the momentum at our level of the ballot,” said interim DLCC President Heather Williams. “Congratulations to Representative-elect Marc Plamondon on this crucial win that will prevent Republicans from sending another MAGA extremist to the statehouse. In New Hampshire and across the country, it’s clear that voters are sick of the GOP’s radical agenda and are ready for Democratic leadership in state legislatures.”
Rep-elect. Marc Plamondon (HD-Hillsborough 3) spent 12 years as a Nashua Alderman, earning him widespread recognition as a community leader who gets his neighbors the resources they deserve. In Concord, he’ll work hard to protect New Hampshire’s natural beauty and keep abortion legal and accessible. Marc’s special election brings Democrats one step closer to a majority in the House.
The DLCC is the official Democratic Party committee dedicated to winning America’s state legislatures. Last year, the DLCC defied the odds by not losing any state legislative majorities, flipping four key chambers, and creating four new Democratic trifectas – the best midterm year for the party in power since at least 1934. State legislatures are the building blocks of our democracy and pass the policies that have the biggest impact on Americans’ day-to-day lives.
