WASHINGTON — The Minnesota DFL just won enough seats to retain control of the Minnesota House. Republicans named the Minnesota House as one of its key targets this cycle and inundated the state with over $8.3 million in spending. Minnesotans knew what was at stake and trusted DFLers to continue protecting abortion access, shielding our election system from the growing MAGA threat, and building an economy that works for everyone.
House DFLers have also secured a crucial victory for Governor Walz and his ability to continue strengthening Minnesota’s economy and protecting the reproductive rights of everyday Minnesotans.
“Minnesota voters delivered Democrats a crucial victory in maintaining control of the House against heavy Republican spending,” said DLCC President Jessica Post. “Minnesotans know that their communities are safer and stronger under DFL leadership. The House majority is ready to continue addressing the issues that matter most to the people of Minnesota and building a safer, more affordable future for their families.”
Minnesota was a crucial target in the DLCC’s Path to The Majority strategy to protect Democratic power and make a play at vulnerable GOP majorities. The DLCC invested over $3.5 million in Minnesota this cycle, helping state partners lay the groundwork for strong campaigns across the state. The DLCC IE arm spent heavily to defend this critical chamber, which included mail and digital ads. Meanwhile, Minnesota Republicans were too busy racing to the right rather than working to address the issues that matter to everyday Minnesotans.
The DLCC is the official Democratic Party committee dedicated to winning America’s state legislatures. This cycle, the committee raised $50 million to elect state Democrats across the country. State legislatures are the building blocks of our democracy and pass the policies that have the biggest impact on Americans’ day-to-day lives.
