WASHINGTON — According to a bombshell report in the Arizona Republic, disgraced former President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign paid over $6,000 to an LLC owned by Arizona Representative Mark Finchem as the lawmaker spearheaded a push to overturn President Joe Biden’s victory in the state. The campaign described the payment as “legal consulting,” even though Rep. Finchem is not a lawyer and he claimed the payment was for “crowd control” at a meeting where Rudy Giuliani aired wild conspiracy theories about election fraud. Finchem did not disclose the existence of the LLC the Trump campaign paid despite state transparency laws.
“The people of Arizona deserve an explanation, and Representative Finchem should resign for being paid to overthrow the will of the voters,” said Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Jessica Post. “But let’s be clear: hundreds of Republican state legislators worked to discredit or overturn the presidential election results, and they are all complicit in this unprecedented assault on our democracy.”
Representative Finchem was also present at the Capitol insurrection on January 6th, and refused to respond to public records requests that would shine light on his activities in Washington, DC that day.
Over 500 Republican legislators contributed to the effort to overturn the election and at least 18 participated in the insurrection at the Capitol.
