- June: $2.1 million
- Q2: $5.3 million
- Cycle: $9 million
The committee has increased its fundraising capabilities with a record number of grassroots donors. This quarter the committee received more than 31,000 online grassroots donations.
“The recent Supreme Court ruling on gerrymandering and the wave of anti-choice legislation underscore the importance of state legislative races to our country’s future,” said DLCC Executive Director Jessica Post. “These astounding fundraising numbers make it clear that Democrats across the country understand the importance of state legislatures and they’re ready to fight for fair maps and progress.”
By comparison, the DLCC’s largest quarter in 2017, the last off-year, was $3.6 million. The committee is on track to raise more than $50 million this cycle, five times the amount it raised a decade ago.
“This new financial advantage is allowing the DLCC to invest early in targeted chambers across the country,” Post said. “We’re helping state parties from Pennsylvania to Texas, North Carolina to Alaska build their bench and recruit incredible candidates to flip their state legislatures blue.”
Since President Trump’s election, the DLCC has helped flip more than 400 legislative seats and win eight new majorities.
