WASHINGTON — Today, Minnesota lawmakers will convene for the 2024 legislative session. In 2022, the DLCC secured a Democratic trifecta in Minnesota for the first time in a decade, flipping the state Senate and maintaining the House majority. Since then, Minnesota has been a stellar example of what Democrats achieve in leadership, with a banner year of accomplishments. DFLers passed legislation to fund free breakfast and lunch for K-12 students, increase funding for mental health services, establish paid family leave, and enshrine protections for abortion into state law. As the 2024 legislative session kicks off, Democrats plan to focus on advancing their progressive agenda, including making higher education equitable and affordable.
The Minnesota House will be incredibly competitive in 2024, and the DLCC is taking nothing for granted in 2024 as we fight to defend the Democratic majority and build on our historic progress.

After securing a Democratic trifecta in 2022, DFLers used their power to pass legislation that has had tangible positive impacts on people’s lives. All kids in Minnesota public schools have access to free breakfast and lunch, and abortion access is protected for all– thanks entirely to the newly minted Democratic trifecta. There is so much power at this level of the ballot, and I’m thrilled to see what the Minnesota Democratic trifecta will pursue as this legislative session kicks off.

Our Democratic majority has moved Minnesota forward – and the stakes for continuing this progress will be high in November.
