Wisconsin remains a top target for the DLCC in 2024

WASHINGTON – Today, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers signed new legislative maps that aim to significantly reduce undemocratic gerrymandering in the state. The maps will now be in effect for the pivotal 2024 legislative elections.

These new maps represent an opportunity for Democrats to gain ground in Wisconsin this November and the DLCC reaffirms Wisconsin’s status as a crucial target for the committee in 2024. With the full Assembly and half the Senate on the ballot this November, our priority is to reverse the Republican takeover of this state and take advantage of these new maps to shift the balance of power in the state legislature.

Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Heather Williams issued the following statement:

“For far too long, Wisconsin was one of the worst-gerrymandered states in the country, and Wisconsin Republicans robbed voters of true representation. While we still have more work to do to ensure fair representation in each and every Wisconsin community, with these new maps in place, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee reaffirms its commitment to reverse the Republican takeover of this state and shift the balance of power in both the Wisconsin Assembly and the Wisconsin Senate.

“Wisconsin is a top priority for the DLCC in 2024, and we’re already hard at work building the campaigns that will fuel our legislative gains this fall. The time for fair representation in Wisconsin is long overdue, and we are building winning campaigns and sustainable infrastructure to build power this cycle and ultimately take back both majorities.”

The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) is the official Democratic Party committee dedicated to winning America’s state legislatures and building state infrastructure. Over the last decade, we have fought cycle-over-cycle to gain a dozen new legislative chamber majorities and we are leading the effort to bring national attention and investment to our ballot level. State legislatures are the building blocks of our democracy and have the closest connections to Americans’ day-to-day lives. From protecting fundamental freedoms and voting rights to growing the middle class, the DLCC and state legislators are moving the Democratic agenda forward and shaping the future of this country.
