DLCC Announces 2018 Board of Directors
DLCC’s Board of 22 legislators feature prominent Democratic leaders dedicated to winning back chambers nationwide
WASHINGTON — Today the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) convened its annual Winter Meeting with its Board of Directors in Washington, D.C. with the goal of reflecting on this years’ successes, laying the groundwork for 2018 and 2020 elections, and holding Board elections.
DLCC Executive Director Jessica Post made the following statement:
“As the DLCC prepares to build on our winning momentum heading into the 2018 midterms, we’re looking forward to working closely with our Board of Directors as we fight to expand Democrats’ control of legislative chambers across the map and position state Democrats for success ahead of crucial 2020 redistricting. The DLCC is privileged to work with such a talented, dedicated, and experienced group of legislative leaders.”
With Board terms staggered, eight members were up for re-election, and all will continue to serve on the board:
- House Democratic Leader Janet Cruz, Florida
- Speaker of the House Brian Egolf, New Mexico
- Speaker of the House Sara Gideon, Maine
- Senate President Ron Kouchi, Hawaii
- Deputy House Majority Leader Lou Lang, Illinois
- Senator Mark Miller, Wisconsin
- Senate Majority Leader Sharon Nelson, Washington
- Democratic Conference Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, New York
The DLCC would like to congratulate and welcome two new members to the Board:
- Western Region: Speaker of the House Jason Frierson, Nevada
- Midwestern Region: House Democratic Leader Mark Smith, Iowa
The DLCC is also pleased to announce the election of Hawaii Senate President Ron Kouchi to the DLCC’s Executive Board. He will serve as Treasurer following the resignation of Nevada Senate Majority Leader Aaron Ford as he pursues statewide office. The DLCC thanks Leader Ford for his service and his work to help elect Democrats to state legislatures across the country.

The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee is the only organization exclusively committed to electing Democrats to state legislatures all over the country and winning Democratic control of chambers. For over two decades, the DLCC has been working with state legislative leaders to invest strategically in state programs, which has led to Democrats flipping 33 contested seats in 2017 alone. The DLCC is building on Democrats’ winning momentum and continues to lay the groundwork for substantial gains in 2018 in statehouses nationwide. State Democrats recently scored critical victories in Washington, Virginia, Oklahoma, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Florida, New York, New Hampshire, Georgia, and elsewhere.
