DLCC Applauds President Biden’s First State of the Union Address

WASHINGTON —  Tonight, President Biden delivered his first State of the Union to Congress and the nation. DLCC President Jessica Post released the following statement in response:

“When President Biden first took office, we were in the depths of an economic downturn, reeling from the aftermath of a violent attack on our Capitol, and unequipped to safely respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. But within the first year of his presidency, President Biden and Democrats from the halls of Congress to Democratic-controlled statehouses have delivered on once-in-a-generation investments to improve the lives of all Americans.

“Now, millions of Americans are vaccinated against COVID-19 and as a result, 99% of schools are open and communities have the resources to keep their citizens safe. Democrats have fought to expand access to affordable health care, protect consumers, ensure that every hard-working American earns a fair and livable wage, and protect access to the ballot box. Democrats have also strengthened the economy by passing an infrastructure plan that will not only modernize our ports, roads, and bridges but invest in clean energy initiatives that will create energy independence and good-paying jobs — building from the middle out, not the top down.

“We applaud President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for their strong and unwavering leadership during a pivotal time in our country’s history. Their actions have kept Americans safe, strengthened the economy and restored American values to the White House. Like the Biden administration and Democrats across the country, the DLCC will continue to be a strong advocate for American workers by fighting to lower costs, protect voting rights, and expand access to life-saving health care across the country.”
