DLCC Congratulates New Jersey General Election Candidates
Following Last Night’s Primary Election, Democrats Aim To Expand Already-Historic Majorities
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) congratulates New Jersey Democrats on the conclusion of the 2017 legislative primary elections. With Democrats well-positioned to retain their largest legislative majorities in nearly 40 years, DLCC Executive Director Jessica Post issued the following statement:
“Congratulations to our general election nominees on their victories last night. We look forward to working with these candidates as New Jersey Democrats aim to expand their impressive majorities and elect a Democrat to the governorship. While Governor Chris Christie was off promoting Trump, Democratic legislators were working to advance state progress and improve the lives of New Jersians. Trump-ally Gov. Christie has stifled progress in the Garden State, vetoing critical legislation that would ban child marriage, require presidential candidates to release tax returns, and institute automatic voter registration. This fall, New Jersey will benefit from a unified progressive front against Trumpism.”
Assembly Democrats hold the longest continual majority in New Jersey history and Senate Democrats are poised to achieve the same milestone when they maintain their majority this fall. DLCC is committed to electing Democrats to statehouses and advancing state progress in the Trump era.
