The DLCC is focused on flipping both Wisconsin chambers in 2026
WASHINGTON — Today, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) hosted a press conference with Wisconsin Democratic Assembly Leader Greta Neubauer on our plan to flip both chambers of the legislature in Wisconsin in light of Judge Susan Crawford’s decisive victory.
Election after election, the DLCC has been on the front lines supporting Wisconsin Democrats in their fight to make gains against an aggressive gerrymander. After groundbreaking gains on new maps last cycle, we’re now the closest we’ve been to flipping both chambers in over a decade. All eyes should be on state legislative races which are the best opportunities to move policy and build power.

Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Heather Williams:
- “Our wins this week build on the incredible special election victories we’ve had in the states. This year alone, we’ve already defended five chamber majorities, and we’ve overperformed by 10 points on average across red, blue, and battleground districts across the country. That includes flipping two districts Trump won by double digits – earthquake victories that signal real momentum down-ballot.”
- “Democratic wins at this ballot level this year have painted a compelling picture of what can be learned from the candidates closest to the ground and most embedded in their communities. Our candidates have face-to-face honest conversations on the doors with voters of all stripes, and this grassroots strategy is paying off. The Democratic overperformance at the state legislative level makes it clear that Democrats need to invest greater resources where we’re winning – in the states.”
- “This is the fault of Donald Trump – this economy and people’s pain [are] not sitting at the feet of anyone else, and it is the problem of Republicans in Congress, which they have control of, not pushing back or doing anything to defend their communities or the family farmers or the manufacturing or the workers in their states… Community members also expect their Republicans, their fellow Republicans, to start to stand up and make noise. This is unacceptable, and the budget impacts do not sit at the feet of Democrats. [As] leader Neubauer says, there’s a way to have conversations about how to bring manufacturing back into this country, how to make more goods here, how to make better goods here. There’s lots of really great conversations to have, but that is not what is happening, and it is really important that everyone understands who is to blame here, while the impact of this and the really tough decisions get placed at other people’s feet.”
Wisconsin Assembly Leader Greta Neubauer:
- “After picking up 10 seats in the Assembly and 4 seats in the Senate in 2024, our Democratic caucus immediately introduced a common-sense package of bills meant to lower costs for working families in Wisconsin. We’re working to lower the cost of prescription drugs, make it easier for young families to buy a first home in their communities, and save on the cost of groceries for families with school-aged children. But Republicans continue to block these bills from moving forward, instead cozying up to Donald Trump and Elon Musk while working folks pay the price.”
- “Our members and candidates are on the ground talking directly to voters, and voters are desperate for a government in Wisconsin that is fighting for them, not for billionaires like Musk, Dick and Elizabeth Uhline, and Dianne Hendricks, who pour massive amounts of money into Republican state races. The trend of Democratic overperformance so far this year highlights the opportunities ahead of us and the urgency for investing in state-level races to build our capacity to compete next year.”
- “We are going to retake the Democratic majority next, win a Democratic trifecta in Wisconsin, and deliver results for the people of our state that have been too-long ignored by this Republican legislature. Our winning operation in Wisconsin is ready to go on offense in 2026 and win.”
- “We intend to work every single day between now and November 2026 to talk to our voters about what we’re doing in Madison and what we will do when we have that Democratic trifecta. People are feeling the pain of the Trump administration already in Wisconsin, farmers are terrified about what these tariffs are going to mean for them. Wisconsin stands to lose a lot because of these very poorly managed tariff policies. We have people, of course, who depend on Medicaid, Social Security and Medicare, who are extremely concerned. We have veterans in the state of Wisconsin who are already feeling the impacts of the cuts. And of course, federal workers who deliver essential services to people across this state who have no answers as to whether or not they have jobs or the services that they provided will continue.”
The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) is the official Democratic Party committee dedicated to winning America’s state legislatures and building state infrastructure. Over the last decade, we have fought cycle-over-cycle to gain a dozen new legislative chamber majorities and we are leading the effort to bring national attention and investment to our ballot level. State legislatures are the building blocks of our democracy and have the closest connections to Americans’ day-to-day lives. From protecting fundamental freedoms and voting rights to growing the middle class, the DLCC and state legislators are moving the Democratic agenda forward and shaping the future of this country.
