DLCC Leads Candidate Recruitment Efforts with Third Session of the Combine

 

 

WASHINGTON — Today the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee convened the third meeting of The Combine, bringing together progressive partners to discuss a recruitment table heading into the 2018 midterms.

 

The DLCC was joined by new and returning participants, with representatives from over a dozen allied organizations including Run For Something, EMILY’s List, CrowdPAC, Emerge America, organized labor, and more in attendance. The session comes on the heels of massive wins by the DLCC and state Democrats in recent elections in Virginia, Washington, New Jersey, Georgia, Oklahoma, and beyond.

 

“With our direct ties to caucuses and legislative leaders and our ever-expanding in-state infrastructure, the DLCC is uniquely equipped to amplify the voices of state Democrats at the national level,” said DLCC Executive Director Jessica Post. “Democrats’ recent victories in Virginia and in legislative special elections from coast to coast prove that in the Trump era of Republican dysfunction, even the reddest of districts are in play. The Combine will ensure Democrats’ message of standing up for working families, protecting access to health care, and defending our core values is represented in more legislative districts across the country.

The DLCC is working hard to build up the Democratic pipeline to thwart GOP efforts to gerrymander another decade of elections.”

 

The DLCC recently released its Election Day Results 2017 playbook detailing state Democrats’ monumental wins. The DLCC and state Democrats have flipped 33 previously red seats to blue compared to Republicans’ one flip in contested elections. Victories include flipping the Washington State Senate to Democratic control, flipping a whopping 15 seats from red to blue in the Virginia House of Delegates, maintaining record majorities in the New Jersey Legislature, flipping two seats from red to blue in the Georgia state House, breaking the Republican supermajority in the Georgia state Senate, flipping a New Hampshire state House seat from red to blue, and winning additional special elections in Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, and Oklahoma, South Carolina.
