Michigan is a shining example of what happens when you elect Democrats to state power
WASHINGTON — After last week’s landslide victory for DLCC Spotlight candidate Marilyn Lands in Alabama, momentum behind the DLCC continues to grow. The next major special elections are in Michigan, where DLCC Spotlight candidates Peter Herzberg and Mai Xiong are on the frontlines of protecting Democrats’ hard-fought majority in the Michigan House.
Defending the Democratic trifecta in Michigan is a top-tier priority for the DLCC after we flipped both the Michigan House and Senate in 2022, securing a Democratic trifecta for the first time since 1984. The trifecta has been a shining example of Democratic leadership, passing gun safety legislation, expanding access to food for Michiganders in need, and passing a package of reproductive freedom bills. We can’t allow Republicans to win these special elections and block the important progress made – there’s too much at stake. Democrats must win this election and ensure that Speaker Joe Tate and Democrats remain in charge of the Michigan House so Michigan can remain a shining example of progress ahead of the general elections in November.
The DLCC’s momentum in 2024 continues to grow. Following our historic wins in 2023, we have continued overperforming across the map and scored key victories that are shifting the balance of power in the states. The DLCC needs continued support and resources to keep this momentum going in Michigan and across the country as we prepare for November.
