WASHINGTON — Georgia Democrats are calling on Republicans to pass the Georgia Reproductive Freedom Act after the GOP refused to hold hearings on the broadly popular legislation. Republicans have similarly refused to hold hearings on pieces of legislation calling for Medicaid expansion. Republicans are refusing to even consider popular legislation, instead prioritizing their extreme MAGA agenda.
“If Republicans continue to hide from their constituents, Democrats will continue to show Georgians that we are fighting for their reproductive freedom,” said interim DLCC President Heather Williams. “The GOP refuses to hear this legislation because they know that their extremist agenda is out of step with the vast majority of voters. The DLCC is proud to stand with Georgia Democrats as they champion legislation that will help working families across the state.”
The DLCC is the official Democratic Party committee dedicated to winning America’s state legislatures. Last year, the DLCC defied the odds by not losing any state legislative majorities, flipping four key chambers, and creating four new Democratic trifectas – the best midterm year for the party in power since at least 1934. State legislatures are the building blocks of our democracy and pass the policies that have the biggest impact on Americans’ day-to-day lives.
