2024 is the most important year in state legislative campaign history – with fundamental freedoms on the line, resources are needed to run and compete down-ballot
WASHINGTON — The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee and our affiliated entities raised $6.9 million in Q1, marking our strongest Q1 fundraising in DLCC’s history. For the cycle, we have raised nearly $28 million so far, in pursuit of our target $60 million budget for the 2024 cycle. In this year of the states, we are seeing unprecedented early engagement and excitement for our ballot level as major drivers for fundraising.
The stakes in the states are higher than they’ve ever been with fundamental freedoms being decided at this ballot level. While hundreds of millions of dollars pour into top-of-the-ticket races, investments in our work make the national Democratic agenda real for everyday people. For a fraction of what is spent on a single federal race, big change can be funded in the states.
Additionally, When the DLCC’s budget is fully funded, success in the states can drive engagement for all levels of the ballot in 2024. Directly funding the DLCC will help pay for direct voter contact and provide support to help Democrats get their voters to the polls. These races are often decided by thousands, hundreds, or even dozens of votes, so a single dollar goes further at the DLCC than anywhere else. There has never been a more important year to invest in state legislatures because wins at this ballot level are the catalyst for change, representative leadership, and the transformative policy outcomes that most impact our day-to-day lives.
