Just this year, state Democrats have won 5 majority-deciding elections, secured 3 seats Trump won by double digits, and are overperforming in special elections by over 10 points on average
WASHINGTON— Earlier this week, DLCC Spotlight Candidate Amanda Clinton stunned Oklahoma and the country with a 50-point overperformance in her special election – a massive win that’s just the latest in a string of victories for state Democrats this year.
Not only have state Democrats continued to overperform by over 10 points on average in special elections, they’ve won the bulk of special elections overall, including shocking flips in deep red Trump districts and majority-deciding elections.
These wins come as Republicans push an unpopular agenda centered on cutting health care access and food benefits that voters are clearly rejecting. State Democrats are showing up to fight failed MAGA politicians at home and the dangerous Republican extremism coming out of Washington. And with dozens of special elections still to come, Democrats are just getting started.

“State Democrats continue to shatter expectations in state legislative special elections this year. It’s no surprise considering their GOP counterparts have empowered the attacks on working families that Republicans are ramming through in Washington – from gutting health care to cutting food benefits. Republicans’ agenda is clearly backfiring as voters are lining up behind state Democrats who are fighting for their communities. The DLCC will continue uplifting these wins as Republicans fall further and further out of step with voters.”
