Once Again, State Democrats Sweep Special Elections

 

 

WASHINGTON — Today Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) Executive Director Jessica Post announced more coast to coast victories for state Democrats. The recent victories come only a month after state Democrats saw widespread victories in the November 7 elections, flipping more than a dozen seats from red to blue.

 

State Democrats celebrated victories in the West with Assemblywoman-elect Wendy Carrillo’s win in California, in the Northeast with Representative-elect Jeanne McNeill’s victory in Pennsylvania, and in the South with multiple wins in the Georgia State House and Senator-elect Jen Jordan’s victory – which also broke Republicans’ supermajority in the state’s upper legislative chamber.

 

“Congratulations to our newly elected state Representatives and state Senators,” said Post. “In this critical time in our nation, it is imperative that voters use the power of the ballot box to take a stand against extremism and right-wing attacks on our values. Later this week at the DLCC’s Emerging Leaders’ Forum, I look forward to meeting with leading state Democrats to talk about our successes in 2017 and the DLCC’s plan to build on our winning momentum heading into the 2018 midterms and lay the groundwork for success ahead of crucial 2020 redistricting.”
