WASHINGTON – As reported in the Philadelphia Inquirer, President Joe Biden has endorsed DLCC Spotlight Candidate Heather Boyd for Tuesday’s special election in Pennsylvania’s 163rd House District, a race that will likely decide the majority in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
“With control of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on the line, this race will determine the future of so many fundamental freedoms that Pennsylvanians hold dear,” said President Biden. “That’s why I am incredibly proud to endorse Heather Boyd for Pennsylvania House District 163. Heather is an experienced public servant who will protect a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions, stand up for common sense gun safety laws and expand access to voting rights. Electing her could not be more important.”
“I am honored to have the endorsement of President Biden, a man who has dedicated his life to service to others,” said Heather Boyd, candidate for state house. “The Biden infrastructure plan is already bringing jobs and safer commutes to Pennsylvanians. We must stand together as Americans to protect our fundamental freedoms and our democracy from MAGA extremists trying to tear us apart. I am grateful for President Biden’s support as we work to earn the support of voters at the ballot box on Tuesday.”
“There are no off-years for state legislatures and we are excited to have President Biden’s endorsement in this critical special election,” said interim DLCC President Heather Williams. “Single seats can determine the balance of power in state legislatures and can decide whether or not people have health care access or the right to vote. This is especially true in Pennsylvania, where electing Heather Boyd on Tuesday will ensure that the Democratic majority in the House will continue to stand up to protect fundamental freedoms and our democracy in the Keystone State.”
The DLCC is the official Democratic Party committee dedicated to winning America’s state legislatures. Last year, the DLCC defied the odds by not losing any state legislative majorities, flipping four key chambers, and creating four new Democratic trifectas – the best midterm year for the party in power since at least 1934. State legislatures are the building blocks of our democracy and pass the policies that have the biggest impact on Americans’ day-to-day lives.
