President Obama Endorses Almost 200 Additional State Democrats
WASHINGTON — Today former President Barack Obama announced he is endorsing an additional 180 Democrats running for statehouses nationwide.
The candidates include veterans, educators, union advocates, small business owners, lawyers, health care workers, community organizers, activists, and more. The DLCC has also endorsed many of these changemakers and included them on its list of Spotlight Races.
“The Democratic Party has always made the biggest difference in the lives of the American people when we lead with conviction, principle, and bold new ideas. Our incredible array of candidates up and down the ticket, all across the country, make up a movement of citizens who are younger, more diverse, more female than ever before,” said President Obama. “They’re Americans who aren’t just running against something, but for something. They’re running to expand opportunity and restore the honor and compassion that should be the essence of public service. I’m proud to endorse so many of them today, and I’m eager to continue making the case for why they deserve our votes this November.”
“As a former state legislator himself, President Obama recognizes the importance of electing strong leaders at the state level, and the DLCC is proud to join him in endorsing this group of exceptional candidates,” said DLCC Executive Director Jessica Post. “These candidates will stand up for democratic values and work to move our nation forward one state at a time. The DLCC has already flipped 44 seats from red to blue since the 2016 election, and we will continue to build Democratic momentum and win more majorities this fall.”
