This year alone, Democrats have won five majority-deciding special elections, flipped 2 seats Trump won by double digits, and defended Wisconsin’s liberal Supreme Court majority

WASHINGTON— While the Trump administration has spent the last 100 days wreaking havoc on the nation’s economy and jeopardizing opportunities for working families, Americans have spent 100 days voting for state Democrats. This year, Democrats have won five majority-deciding special elections, flipped two seats that Trump won by double digits last November, overperformed in races across the country, and protected the liberal majority on Wisconsin’s Supreme Court. State legislative races are the most immediate opportunity for Democrats to defend and build sustainable power.

Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Heather Williams issued the following statement:

“Over the last 100 days, the Trump administration has dealt in total chaos and extremism: costing workers their jobs, sinking retirement accounts, and raising prices at the grocery store. And it’s clear that voters are paying attention and fighting back. Voters are making their voices heard and state legislative Democrats are winning elections because of it. The DLCC will continue to shore up the Democratic firewall in the states with leaders ready to fight and protect working families and deliver on the issues voters care most about.”

The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) is the campaign arm of Democratic state legislatures and leads the national strategy for building power and winning new majorities. Over the last three decades, we have strategized cycle over cycle to win majorities and lead the effort to bring national attention and investment to our ballot level, winning nearly a dozen new chamber majorities over the last decade Our work has ensured that nearly half of Americans are represented by at least one Democratic majority in their statehouse. State legislatures are the building blocks of our democracy and have the closest connections to Americans’ day-to-day lives. From protecting fundamental freedoms and voting rights to growing the middle class and advancing opportunity, the DLCC and state legislators are moving the Democratic agenda forward and shaping the future of this country.
