This marks the sixth majority-deciding special election win for state Democrats this year.
WASHINGTON — DLCC Spotlight Candidate Xp Lee just won his majority-deciding special election in the Minnesota House tonight, restoring a tie in the chamber and filling the vacancy resulting from the assassination of Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband earlier this summer.
This is the third majority-deciding special election won by Democrats in Minnesota this year, with two more majority-deciding Minnesota Senate specials already on the ballot for this November. With two of the most competitive chambers in the country, Minnesota will continue to be a priority for the DLCC in 2026.
