WASHINGTON — Democratic candidate recruitment for state legislative candidates in battleground Wisconsin is strong, offering promising odds for Democrats to build substantial power in the legislature in 2024. With new fair maps in place, Democrats have recruited candidates in every Senate seat on the ballot for the first time in over 20 years, and 97 seats in the Assembly, the highest number since the Republican gerrymander of 2011. As the DLCC looks to protect Gov. Evers’ veto, make gains, and shift the balance of power in the legislature, candidate recruitment is the essential foundation for success. Wisconsin Democrats have the quality candidates and infrastructure needed to gain ground in both legislative chambers and in all corners of the state.
The DLCC has been hard at work making early investments and collaborating with in-state partners to build an impressive crop of Democratic candidates with deep ties to their communities whose victories will help candidates up and down the ballot.
