WASHINGTON — Today, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) announced two Spotlight candidates running in special elections in Delaware on February 15th to defend Democratic power. These strong candidates provide opportunities to not only hold key seats and bolster the Democratic firewall in the states as MAGA extremism takes over at the federal level, but also progress the Democratic agenda forward.
The Spotlight candidates unveiled today are:
- Dan Cruce (SD-01) is a nonprofit leader whose career has given him countless opportunities to improve life for his fellow Delawareans, including a stint in public education where he took on the role of Assistant Superintendent for his local school district. Today, he wants to give back by joining the state Senate where he can help ensure that every working family in Delaware has the tools they need to provide for their children and build a better life. Dan is committed to achieving this goal by being an accessible leader, always ready to fight for the prosperity of his constituents.
- Ray Seigfried (SD-05) is a former state representative and health care policy expert. Ray was the first in his family to go to college, attending a public university where he laid a foundation for future success. Ray is adamant that every Delaware resident, regardless of economic background, deserves to experience the life-changing opportunities a quality education can provide. In addition to supporting investment in the public school system, Ray will fight for the right to abortion, full inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community, and a brighter economic future for every working family in his state.
Democrats hold majorities in both Delaware chambers and have used their trifecta to strengthen access to reproductive freedom, boost funding for Medicaid, promote gun safety, and move the state toward green energy sources. The voices of these Spotlight candidates will be instrumental in advancing Democratic power and leadership at the state level.
