WASHINGTON — The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee is adding nearly 100 additional Republican state legislators to its GOP Hall of Shame: Sedition Edition. These lawmakers all signed onto letters or resolutions calling for Congress to overturn electoral college votes or for the Supreme Court to overturn the election results.
Instead of holding these antidemocratic lawmakers at arm’s length, the Republican State Leadership Committee is elevating them to national leadership positions like their executive committee. They even appointed conspiracy theorists who tried repeatedly to undermine the last presidential election to their bogus “election integrity” commission.
“Every elected official who spread these lies and sought to overturn the results of the presidential election is complicit in one of the most shameful days in our nation’s history,” said DLCC President Jessica Post. “Many of these lawmakers are now using the lies they told about the election to implement laws that make it more difficult to vote.”
Few of these elected officials have faced any sort of punishment for their participation in the violent movement to overturn the results of last year’s election. The DLCC will continue efforts to hold them accountable for lying to the American public and their assault on our nation’s most cherished democratic institutions.
