Against the backdrop of chaos in DC, state Democrats are leading in their communities with action that’s earning them big wins with voters
WASHINGTON— As state Republicans bury their heads in the sand while federal GOP lawmakers advance an extreme and dangerous agenda, state Democrats are delivering tangible results for working families – and they’re winning and overperforming in elections because of it. This year, state Democrats are crushing expectations and overperforming by over 10 points on average. Just last night, DLCC Spotlight Candidate Keishan Scott not only made history as he’ll soon become one of the youngest Democratic state legislators in the country, but also overperformed in his district by 20 points.
Earlier this week on MSNBC, Symone Sanders highlighted the DLCC’s “States of Play” presser series as a key example of how Democrats are standing up for their communities and fighting against the devastating cuts progressing in Congress:
- “Today, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, which is the entity that helps elect state legislative folks across the country – state reps, state delegates, state senators – they announced that they’re going to do a new series. I wrote it down. It was called ‘State[s] of Play,’ and so, talking about how what’s happening in Washington– it’s a press conference thing that they’re doing. They’re just going to record with key people all across the country at the state level, talking about how that affects them. Some of them are in the minority, but this is the way that they’re taking action.”
