WASHINGTON — Colorado Democrats just successfully defended their majorities in the House and Senate. Republicans named Colorado as one of its key “Opportunities to Flip Chambers” this cycle and inundated the state with $23 million in spending across both chambers.  The DLCC identified Colorado as a target early last year and worked tirelessly with our state partners to defend these critical chambers against the RSLC’s attacks.

A Democratic trifecta in Colorado will continue to act as a strong firewall against MAGA GOP’s attacks on democracy, while continuing to enact Democratic priorities like protected abortion rights, accessible health care, and lower costs.

“Coloradans just sent a strong message to the GOP that their MAGA election lies and abortion bans have no place in Colorado,” said DLCC President Jessica Post. “Even after the RSLC and state Republicans pulled out every dirty trick in the book and flooded money into the state, Coloradans resoundingly rejected their toxic agenda at the ballot box. While the Colorado GOP continues to collapse under the weight of their own extremism and Republican lawmakers defect from the GOP, Democrats will continue to build on this victory and help create a safer, more affordable future for all Coloradans.”

Colorado was a crucial battleground in the DLCC’s Path to The Majority strategy to protect Democratic power and make a play at vulnerable GOP majorities. The DLCC invested nearly $2 million in Colorado this cycle, helping state partners lay the groundwork and providing critical guidance for strong campaigns across the state. Colorado Republicans ran on a platform of election lies, attacks on our freedoms, and scare tactics instead of focusing on the issues that matter to local communities. The modern MAGA GOP is fundamentally out of step with the people of Colorado, and this result is a resounding confirmation of that.

The DLCC is the official Democratic Party committee dedicated to winning America’s state legislatures. This cycle, the committee raised $50 million to elect state Democrats across the country. State legislatures are the building blocks of our democracy and pass the policies that have the biggest impact on Americans’ day-to-day lives.
