WASHINGTON — As the filing deadline for state legislative races in New Hampshire comes to a close, Democratic candidate recruitment numbers in the House and Senate are strong and put Democrats in a strong position to break the toxic Republican trifecta. New Hampshire Democrats have recruited more candidates for state legislative races than the GOP, filing Democratic candidates in every Senate race and 364 out of 400 House races. This robust recruitment creates a promising opportunity for Democrats to challenge New Hampshire Republicans who have grown more extreme and out of step with Granite State voters. Breaking the GOP trifecta is essential for stopping the extreme agenda of the Republican party that is eroding rights in New Hampshire.

This milestone in New Hampshire follows a string of similar impressive recruitment numbers in other battleground states, showing the energy and momentum for state Democrats this year including in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, and North Carolina.
In 2022, Democrats were short just 11 votes of securing a majority in the House, and 2024 is poised to be just as close. Breaking the New Hampshire Republican trifecta is within striking range this cycle, and we are targeting both legislative chambers this year to pick up seats.
