DLCC: Let’s Flip Everything This November

WASHINGTON — Today the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee launched a new initiative called Flip Everything that outlines a plan to elect more Democrats and flip legislative chambers all over the country. U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) narrates a new video underscoring how important it is to get involved in state legislative races – watch here.

“This year, let’s flip everything,” U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) says in the video, “It’s time to send a message: the power of the people is greater than the people in power. We know that when Democrats act, real progress is made. When we win back state legislatures, we can resist Trump’s agenda and enact America’s agenda.”

“The DLCC has already flipped 41 seats from red to blue since Trump was elected, and we will continue our work to harness the incredible enthusiasm we’re seeing from Democrats everywhere who want to stand up to protect their democracy – from putting their name on the ballot, to knocking on doors, making phone calls to voters, donating time and money, and spreading the word about the importance of voting in 2018 as we look ahead to redistricting after 2020,” said DLCC Executive Director Jessica Post. “We have 6,066 state legislative races this year and we’re proud of all of the strong candidates we have running. We’ve already invested more than $6 million in holding and flipping critical seats and this week we’re announcing a round of initial investments of more than $700,000 in 10 states to help kick off our efforts to flip everything this November.”

Washington state Sen. Manka Dhingra won in a special election last November, flipping the state senate blue. She said, “Individuals matter and majorities matter. The DLCC’s work to elect Democrats and win more legislative majorities is crucial for our democracy. Flipping the state of Washington from red to blue with just my one vote enabled us to enact progressive policies into law—the [Washington] Voting Rights Act, addressing gun violence, protecting net neutrality, passing equal pay, and so much more. I am proud to stand with the DLCC as we work together to flip seats from red to blue this November.”

Democrats are working hard to #FlipEverything this fall in order to bring back the values Democrats fight for every day to our state legislatures – from standing up for working families, to making health care affordable and accessible, to protecting human rights and fighting for equality, to investing in the next generation through strengthening our public education in America .

The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee is the only organization exclusively committed to electing Democrats to state legislatures all over the country and winning Democratic control of chambers. For over two decades, the DLCC has been working with state legislative leaders to invest strategically in state programs, which has led to Democrats flipping 41 seats since Trump’s inauguration. The DLCC is building on Democrats’ winning momentum and continues to lay the groundwork for substantial gains in 2018 in statehouses nationwide. State Democrats recently scored critical victories in PennsylvaniaNew YorkMassachusetts, ConnecticutNew HampshireKentuckyFlorida, MinnesotaMissouri, and elsewhere, while also leading the resistance against the Trump administration’s extremist policies.
