Wisconsin Democrats Flip 34th Seat From Red To Blue

 

WASHINGTON — Tonight Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee Executive Director Jessica Post celebrated Wisconsin state Senator-elect Patty Schachtner’s victory in the special election for Wisconsin Senate District 10. Schachtner’s victory marks the 34th district to flip from red to blue since Trump’s inauguration, continuing state Democrats’ trend of drastic overperformance in districts carried by Trump in the 2016 election.

 

Schachtner, a St. Croix County Medical Examiner and Somerset School Board member, was named to DLCC’s Spotlight Races and her victory is a critical step forward as Democrats aim to retake the Wisconsin Senate ahead of 2020 redistricting.The community rallied around Schachtner — especially the weekend before the election when volunteers knocked on over 23,000 doors and made nearly 20,000 calls in support of her campaign.

Wisconsin Democrats scored an additional win this evening in the special election for Assembly District 66 where Greta Neubauer was chosen as the next state Representative for the Racine district.
