Jill Duson was inspired at an early age by the activism of her mother and community members who fought tirelessly to desegregate her hometown. She has brought that same sense of public service and progressive leadership to her work as the first Black woman on Portland’s City Council and as Portland’s first Black mayor. Jill is excited to bring her strong leadership and policy expertise to the state Senate, where if elected, she would be the first Black woman to hold that role.
