About Maxine
Rep. Maxine Dibert is a former public school teacher running this fall for reelection to the Alaska House. Maxine is Koyukon Athabascan and was born and raised in Fairbanks, where her parents ensured she grew up with a strong connection to traditional subsistence practices like hunting and fishing. Maxine ran for public office to provide honest representation for Alaska’s working families, and she has done exactly that by championing economic opportunities, greater affordability, personal liberty, and strong public schools.
Maxine flipped District 31 blue in 2022 as a DLCC Target Race candidate and defended it in 2024. This year, she’s ready for another competitive election to protect this key battleground district.
Alaska
2026 is a historic opportunity to defend our bipartisan coalitions in both chambers of the Alaska State Legislature.
Extremist Republicans are attempting to undermine bipartisan coalition leadership in Alaska. Maintaining these coalitions is critical for achieving progress for Alaskans on issues such as public education funding, investments in rural infrastructure, responsible economic development, and addressing the affordability crisis resulting from reckless policies in D.C.
The DLCC has worked in Alaska, cycle after cycle, to build and defend Democratic power, and in 2024 helped achieve a majority-Democrat coalition in the state House. Adding just a few seats across both chambers could mean giving Democrats and the coalition the two-thirds majority needed to either override or protect a governor’s veto.
With a competitive race for Governor and US Senate on the 2026 ballot, the DLCC is all hands on deck to ensure candidates who would join the majority coalition are positioned to win the most competitive districts in Alaska this fall.
