WASHINGTON — Democrat Sam Zurier won his election to Rhode Island SD-3, helping to maintain Democrats’ dominance in the state Senate. Senator-elect Zurier has spent more than two decades strengthening the local public school system as an active member of the Providence School Board and will continue that service in the Rhode Island Senate.
“As a public school parent, Sam Zurier has seen firsthand the gaps facing students in the public school system,” said Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Jessica Post. “That’s why Senator-elect Zurier dedicated his campaign to sharing his vision for strengthening Rhode Island public schools by increasing funding and accountability. Congratulations to Senator-elect Sam Zurier; I am confident that he is ready to get to work from day one in the legislature advocating for public school students, parents, and teachers.”
Raised in East Providence, Senator-elect Sam Zurier pursued a career in public service with a long-held focus on education, serving on the Providence School Board, the Providence City Council, and the East Side Public Education Coalition.
