DLCC and NH House and Senate Democrats Flip Both Chambers
WASHINGTON — The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) and New Hampshire House and Senate Democrats have flipped both the New Hampshire state House and state Senate.
“Congratulations to New Hampshire House and Senate Democrats!” said DLCC Executive Director Jessica Post. “Thanks to the hard work of our grassroots supporters, state partners, legislative leaders, and dedicated staff, the DLCC and New Hampshire Democrats regained control of the entire New Hampshire Legislature. With these new majorities, Democrats will be able to create new jobs, protect health care coverage, and pass paid family and medical leave.Through early investments from the DLCC, New Hampshire Democrats were able to hire staff on the ground early in the cycle, which led to record-breaking candidate recruitment and fundraising. New Hampshire Democrats fielded a candidate in every state Senate race on the ballot and in the House, there were nearly 200 women candidates running, as well as almost 100 educators, dozens of millennials, and over 30 veterans. The DLCC is proud of our work in the state and we look forward to our continued partnership with New Hampshire’s new Democratic Majority Leaders.”
Earlier this year in special elections, New Hampshire Democrats flipped five state House seats from red to blue. The DLCC invested more than $918,000 in the state and relied on its political expertise, in-state partnerships, and state-of-the-art data analytics and modeling tools to create smart strategies to deliver Democratic wins.
The DLCC featured many of the winning candidates on its Spotlight Races page including Representatives-elect Willis Griffith, Dan Toomey, Mark Vallone, and Joshua Query and Senators-elect Jon Morgan and Tom Sherman.
This year Democrats ran over 5,300 candidates – the most candidates for state legislatures since 1982. Nearly half of those candidates are women, and more than 1,100 are candidates of color. The DLCC knows that when Democrats hold the majority in state legislatures, more policies are passed into law that help all Americans. The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee is the only organization exclusively committed to electing Democrats to state legislatures all over the country and winning Democratic control of chambers. For over two decades, the DLCC has been working with state legislative leaders to invest strategically in state programs and rebuild the Democratic Party from the ground up. This cycle, the DLCC held 40 trainings with more than 800 candidates and staff to prepare state Democrats for success. With the help of the DLCC, state Democrats are leading the resistance against the Trump administration’s extremist policies while moving our nation forward one state at a time.
