WASHINGTON — The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee announced today that it has invested over $2 million in flipping the Arizona House and Senate from red to blue. With two weeks until Election Day, Democrats are on offense in Arizona and have the momentum to win majorities in both chambers of the legislature for the first time since 1966.

“Arizona is a top target state for Democrats, and we have the resources and energy to flip the legislature blue,” said Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Jessica Post. “State Republicans are on defense after botching their pandemic response and conspiracy-peddling ideologues have become the new face of their party. We’re fully invested in holding the GOP accountable for their failures and winning the House and Senate majorities in November.”

Democrats need to gain two House seats and three Senate seats to flip the legislature from red to blue. Candidate fundraising hit unprecedented highs, with almost every Democrat in a competitive race outraising their Republican incumbent opponent. Voter turnout has surged this cycle with record-breaking primary ballots cast, a sure sign that momentum is on Democrats’ side.

Republicans are running a slate of right-wing extremists to distract from their disastrous record of bungling the pandemic response, failing Arizonans on health care, and dismantling public education funding. Radical GOP candidates have embracedQAnon believers and white supremacists, pushed conspiracy theories, and attempted to legitimize disinformation about the coronavirus.

The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee is the official Democratic organization dedicated to winning state legislative seats. Earlier this year, the DLCC announced its $50 million “Flip Everything” campaign, an unprecedented effort to win legislative majorities across the country. Since Trump’s election, the DLCC and state partners have flipped over 450 seats and 10 chambers from red to blue.
