WASHINGTON — As Montana Democrats are gearing up for a consequential election, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee is announcing its slate of Spotlight candidates. Democrats are only nine seats away from a majority in the Montana House and are poised to make gains this year.
“Montana is an exciting place for Democrats this year, with competitive challenges up and down the ballot,” said DLCC President Jessica Post. “Montanans are tired of Republican extremists and we’re going to hold them accountable in November. Democrats in Montana are energized, and we have an incredible group of candidates who have stepped up to fight for their communities.”
Montanans know Democratic leadership leads to results. Governor Steve Bullock’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic has protected communities and become a national model for success. With Bullock in a competitive race for the Senate and Lieutenant Governor Mike Cooney in a tight battle for the governorship, Montanans are ready to hold the GOP accountable.
Meet the inspiring slate of women House candidates who are taking their years of community service and dedication all the way to Helena:
- Dr. Anne Giuliano (HD-51), an experienced physician running in a critical toss-up seat to secure affordable and accessible health care for all Montanans.
- Lisa Pavlock (HD-93), a small business owner and educator who knows it’s time for commonsense policies to protect our schools.
- Loni Conley (HD-96), a union nurse and business owner who will stand up for worker’s rights and living wages.
- LouAnn Hansen (HD-97), a first-time candidate who is inspired by her career as a teacher and community activist to take on the GOP House majority leader.
The DLCC is the sole Democratic organization dedicated to winning state legislative seats. Since Trump’s election, the DLCC and state Democrats have flipped more than 450 seats and 10 legislative chambers from red to blue.
