WASHINGTON — With less than two weeks until Election Day, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee is announcing its slate of Spotlight candidates in Indiana, North Dakota, and Illinois. Strong leaders from across the country are running strong campaigns to hold Republicans accountable and fight to make life better for their communities.
“Democrats are fighting in every community to hold Republicans accountable for their disastrous records and lack of leadership,” said DLCC President Jessica Post. “These incredible Democratic candidates are proven leaders who are fighting to improve the lives of every American.”
Democrats are on offense in districts across the country this year, and are poised to make gains all over the map, including in Indiana and North Dakota. With a Democratic trifecta in Illinois, the state has raised the minimum wage, protected reproductive rights, and passed LGBTQ anti-discrimination laws, and Democrats are poised to expand their majorities in the state this year.
The final additions to the Midwestern slate of Spotlight candidates include:
- Indiana: Naomi Bechtold (HD-24), Aimee Rivera Cole (HD-37), Ashley Klein (HD-39), and Pam Dechert (HD-88)
- Illinois: Karina Villa (SD-25), Dave Koehler (SD-46) and Meg Loughran Cappel (SD-49)
- North Dakota: Hamida Dakane (HD-16) and Laetitia Hellerud (SD-22)
The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee is the official Democratic organization dedicated to winning state legislative seats. Earlier this year, the DLCC announced its $50 million “Flip Everything” campaign, an unprecedented effort to win legislative majorities across the country. Since Donald Trump’s election, the DLCC and state partners have flipped more than 450 seats and 10 chambers from red to blue.
