WASHINGTON – The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee is congratulating Representative Elect Tammy Exum and state Democrats on their victory in the Connecticut House District 19 special election.
“Tammy Exum is a former elementary school teacher and Board of Education member who will fight every day for Connecticut’s students and schools,” said Jessica Post, executive director of the DLCC. “With candidates like Tammy — teachers and community leaders, business owners and veterans — Democrats are dominating in state legislative races across the country.”
The seat became vacant when Democrat Derek Slap was elected to the state Senate in a special election on February 27. This district represents West Hartford, Avon and Farmington. Connecticut Democrats hold a 30-seat advantage in the House and an 8-seat advantage in the Senate.
“Connecticut Democrats are working to create jobs, invest in public schools, and protect healthcare,” Post said. “Tonight’s special election victory helps secure their majority in both state chambers and ensures Connecticut will keep moving forward.”
