DLCC Executive Director Jessica Post Congratulates Sen. Nicole Cannizzaro on becoming the first woman Senate Majority Leader in Nevada History
Cannizzaro also becomes first woman Senate Majority Leader in a majority woman legislature
WASHINGTON — Jessica Post, Executive Director of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee issued the following statement congratulating State Senator Nicole Cannizzaro on becoming the first woman Senate Majority Leader in Nevada History.
“Nevada’s women leaders continue making national history as Nicole Cannizzaro became the first woman Majority leader in the state Senate’s history after the state elected the nation’s first woman-majority legislature this past fall,” said Jessica Post, Executive Director of the DLCC. “Nevada continues to pave the way for progressives across the country who are looking at the state as a model for the sort of change that will enrich millions of Nevadans’ lives. Just a few years ago, when Republicans controlled nearly every lever of power in the state, we were talking about draining millions of dollars from Nevada’s public schools and opening federal and state owned lands to big companies seeking to profit on them. Today, Democrats are moving a clean economy, voting rights and laws to protect our children forward.”
