DLCC Launches Ads on AZ GOP’s Health Care Failure

WASHINGTON — The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee announced a new digital ad buy in Arizona attacking state GOP efforts to undermine health care access for those who need it most in the middle of a pandemic. American Leadership Committee, the independent expenditure arm of the DLCC, is running a non-district-specific ad as well as individual ads that target Republican candidates in LD-6, LD-11, LD-17, LD-20, LD-21, and LD-28 through Election Day.

“We’re holding Arizona Republicans accountable for their terrible health care votes,” said Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Jessica Post. “The GOP botched its pandemic response and voted to allow insurance companies to discriminate against people with pre-existing conditions and increase premiums. This year, we’re going to end the GOP’s over 50-year reign in the legislature and elect Democrats who will prioritize quality, affordable health care.”

The 30-second spots highlight the GOP’s support for junk insurance plans that allow insurers to ratchet up premiums and discriminate against people with pre-existing conditions. Democrats need two seats in the state House and three seats in the state Senate to win a majority in the legislature for the first time in more than half a century. These ads will support their efforts to flip Arizona blue in November.

“TRASH” AD TRANSCRIPT

VOICEOVER: Your state legislators determine the kind of health care coverage we get.

And Arizona state Republicans’ approach to health care is garbage, like voting for junk insurance plans that discriminate against Arizonans with pre-existing conditions and increase premiums in the middle of a pandemic.

Arizonans deserve better than a trash health care plan.

It’s time for us to send state Republicans to the scrap heap.
