WASHINGTON — To commemorate Labor Day and the labor movement in the United States, Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Jessica Post released the following statement:
“Today, we celebrate America’s labor movement, to which our country owes an immeasurable debt of gratitude. From cementing a five-day work-week, to securing living wages, guaranteed health benefits, and higher pensions, every American worker is better off thanks to the work of our unions. The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee is proud of our Democratic legislators, many of whom are union members themselves, who fight every day for workers’ rights, a higher minimum wage, better health care, and robust unions. In stark contrast, Republicans have undermined the ability of workers to organize and attacked the infrastructure of modern unions. The priorities of the two parties are crystal clear — and only Democrats are looking out for America’s workers.
“We at the DLCC are so proud to stand alongside labor groups in this country for workers’ rights and protections. Today, we remember all that the labor movement has done to improve the lives of America’s workers and recommit to the fight to protect their progress ahead.”
