WASHINGTON — In response to news that the Supreme Court rejected a Republican attempt to restrict mail-in voting, Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee regional press secretary Pieter Brower released the following statement:
“Democratic leaders in Pennsylvania have worked tirelessly to make voting easier this year, and Republicans have tried to block those efforts at every opportunity. Today’s ruling is a victory for every Pennsylvanian. State legislative races can be decided by just a handful of votes, which is why Republicans are trying so hard to suppress them. Our democracy can only function if every American knows that their vote will be counted and that their voice will be heard.
“Restricting the right to vote is a priority for Republicans because they’re terrified of being held accountable for their extremist records. By electing more Democrats to state legislative chambers in Pennsylvania and across the country, we can end GOP attacks on this foundation of our democracy.”
