WASHINGTON — DLCC President Jessica Post joined Daily Kos political director David Nir and contributing editor David Beard to discuss the state of state legislatures heading further into the 2022 election cycle and the heightened need for Democrats, donors, and everyday Americans to support state Democrats. She also elevated the work the DLCC has done over recent cycles to raise the profile of state-level races and elect hundreds of Democrats to statehouses across the map.

During their discussion, DLCC President Jessica Post said the following: “It takes a lot of individual funds and resources that are not involved in the business of state government to help flip a legislative chamber from red to blue. And while our democratic donors were giving significant funds at the U.S. Senate, at the congressional level, they weren’t as focused on unseating state legislative Republican incumbents and incumbent chambers. … [The DLCC provides] a lot more money to state programs, to do things like candidate recruitment, to build campaign infrastructure, to raise digital funds themselves, to raise individual money themselves, to try to really get our level of the ballot funded appropriately to take out Republican majorities.”

Since Post took over as President of the DLCC in 2015, the DLCC has almost tripled its per-cycle fundraising to $51 million for its 2020 campaign. She has received countless accolades, including being named “the Most Valuable Player of the 2017-2018 election cycle” by Marc Elias, recognized as one of the 40 best and brightest campaign professionals under 40 years old by the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC), and named a Rising Star for innovation in grassroots organizing by Campaigns & Elections magazine.
