Insurrection Witness List: GOP Lawmakers Who Attended the 1/6 Riot

WASHINGTON — As momentum builds for an investigation into Trump supporters’ insurrection on Capitol Hill, a prime target for questioning should be the Republican state legislators who were present at the riot and related demonstrations in Washington on January 6th. The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee has been tracking GOP lawmakers who were involved in the “Stop the Steal” movement, including over a dozen sitting legislators who attended the insurrection.

“The American people deserve to hear the truth about the shameful events of January 6th,” said DLCC President Jessica Post. “Right now, over a dozen elected officials who attended the insurrection have yet to face any consequences and, in many cases, are passing laws designed to hurt our democracy. They have no business serving in office and must be held accountable for their actions.”

Few of the lawmakers who were present during the insurrection have faced consequences, as Republicans at all levels seek to minimize the gravity of the assault on American democracy. The GOP has closed ranks around former President Trump and his lies, ostracizing party members like Liz Cheney who dare to question this consensus.
